The Road Disappearing
A reflection on fog, roads, and photographing the edge of visibility.
Fog makes a photograph less certain.
It takes away the far edge of things and leaves the frame with only what is near enough to trust. Roads become gestures. Trees become marks. The distance turns into a feeling rather than information.
That uncertainty can be useful. Memory often works the same way.
Fog and distance are part of the emotional vocabulary of Alberta photography. They make a scene feel less literal, which can be useful when the goal is atmosphere rather than explanation.
