Storm Water

Dark surf on Hawaii, Big Island, weather lines, and the scale of one person in rough water.

Surfer in dark ocean water beneath a storm cloud

Storm light gives water weight.

The horizon lowers, the clouds gather, and the person in the frame becomes a measure of scale rather than the whole subject. Weather makes the ocean feel less scenic and more alive.

The best part is the uncertainty: you can feel the next wave before it arrives.

Storm light brings a cinematic quality that cannot be manufactured in editing. I try to keep that openness to weather in Alberta engagement sessions, family sessions, and wedding days.
