In the Cold River
A note on dark forest water, small figures, and the quiet edge of immersion.
Water in the forest holds light differently.
The trees darken the edges, the surface breaks into silver, and a single figure in the river becomes both subject and scale. The image feels quiet, but there is physical sensation in it.
Cold water gives a photograph a body.
Physical sensation can make an image linger: cold water, dark trees, a figure holding still. That feeling of atmosphere is something I bring into documentary photography and cinematic portrait work across Alberta.
