Forest photographs can become too busy unless there is somewhere for the eye to go.

Here, the path does that work. It slips through trunks and moss, gathering all the vertical noise into a direction. The frame feels dense, but not closed.

A good path gives the photograph a little patience.

Forest paths are good reminders that direction can be subtle. In engagement photography or family sessions, I often use movement through a place to help people feel natural instead of posed.
