Haze Over the Tree Line

Montana can turn distance into a soft edge.
The trees hold the foreground, the hills barely keep their shape, and the air becomes part of the subject. I like photographs like this because they do not explain very much.
Haze makes the landscape feel less mapped and more felt. The frame becomes about atmosphere before geography.
In landscape photography, that can be enough. A tree line, a pale sky, and the feeling of a day filtered through weather.
