Dobermans on the Horizon

A prairie reflection on two Dobermans, motion blur, and movement across an open horizon.

Two Dobermans moving across an open field beneath a wide sky

The horizon gives the Dobermans room to move.

Motion blur keeps the frame from feeling still. The dogs are small against the field and sky, but their movement gives the photograph its pulse.

I like the way open country changes the scale of an animal. A familiar dog becomes a mark in the landscape, part companion and part weather.

Personal landscape photography works best for me when something living crosses the frame and makes the distance feel real.
