A Figure Against the Lake

Cold shorelines, dark clothing, and the scale of weather at Abraham Lake, Alberta.

Cold landscapes reduce the palette.

Water, stone, cloud, a dark figure against the shore. The image feels stripped down in a way that suits the weather. Nothing is asking to be warmer than it is.

Some photographs work because they let the cold stay cold.

This kind of quiet frame is part of how I think about emotional photography in Alberta: the person remains central, but the place carries some of the feeling too. That same restraint shows up in family, couples, and documentary sessions when the landscape is allowed to matter.
