The Sign at Noon

Old signage, hard sun, and the graphic shape of Halloran Springs, California, off I-15 between Barstow and Las Vegas.

Vintage roadside sign and low building in bright sun

Hard sun can flatten a scene in a useful way.

The shadows become simple. The sign becomes a shape. Palm trees and rooflines start to read almost like cut paper. There is not much softness here, but there is clarity.

Some photographs work because they let a place be graphic.

Graphic light and old signage help build a sense of place. I carry that attention into personal branding and documentary work where the environment should feel specific, not like a neutral backdrop.
