Roadside colour, wet pavement, and the small drama of stopping in Kimberly, British Columbia.
Fuel stops are built for interruption.
They are not meant to be lingered over, which makes them interesting to photograph. A red roof, a parked truck, dark trees behind it, the feeling of weather passing through.
Travel is made of these small pauses as much as the destinations.
Roadside places are part of the visual language of Alberta, even when they are not conventionally beautiful. They keep my commissioned work grounded in real environments rather than overly styled scenes.
