Fire at the Lake Edge
A documentary note on friends gathering by an evening fire, last light, smoke, and the lake edge.

The fire is small, but it gathers the whole frame.
Friends stand near the lake edge as smoke rises into the last light. The hills and water make the scene larger, but the center is still the human circle.
I like photographs of gatherings before they become events. People standing around warmth, talking, waiting, letting the evening settle.
Documentary photography often begins there: with the ordinary ritual that tells you how a day felt.
